My first experience of Reiki was in 2016 after a traumatic time. I was amazed at how much it helped me through the difficult times. I was so fascinated by it that I wanted to be able to help people the same way Reiki had helped me. So in 2018 I started on my Reiki journey, travelling to Lendrick Lodge on the mainland to gain the knowledge and skills to allow me to give a bit back. I became a reiki practitioner in 2019 and began my journey as Butterfly Reiki (blue butterflies are extremely symbolic for me!).

I am originally from Glasgow and married to a Harris man. After many amazing holidays on the island over the years we decided in 2003 that it was time to move to the island and start our family. I have never looked back and can’t imagine not living here!

The easiest way to describe Reiki is as a very gentle energy healing technique which simply involves the practitioner either laying hands gently on or just above specific areas of the body and letting the Reiki energy flow to where it is most needed. After a session clients feel very relaxed and as if some of the stress has been lifted. I’ve heard Reiki being described was ‘its like acupuncture without the needles’
