Improving the Cancer Journey Link Worker
We are really proud to announce the development of a new programme in the Western Isles, based at WICCI, to help support people affected by cancer called ‘Improving the Cancer Journey’. This programme which is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and the Scottish Government and delivered in Partnership with WICCI and NHS Western Isles, aims to support those who are diagnosed with cancer to navigate that time through the use of a Holistic Needs Assessment tool, which will identify the main issues that they may need support with.
The Link Workers will be a valued part of the cancer care ‘team’ providing essential non clinical care and support to people affected by cancer.
The Link Workers will be WICCI employees and will be based from the WICCI offices in Stornoway and Benbecula, although a lot of time could be spent home working. The job will be 21 hours per week.
These roles are funded for 3 years with the expectation of further funding after that.
Get in touch to discuss the role or if you have any questions. You can also contact the ICJ Programme Manager Tim Durbin on 07843949969 or timothy.durbin@nhs.scot
